The Dare

"It's my turn to toss the dare"
That was not an exhibition of wickedness, neither a payback. Perhaps his glottis oughtn't to be ignited thus. Should regret be enthroned on the grandeur of his consciousness? No he wouldn't, not so soon. He crossed the table to sit opposite the chair bordered by a table covered with a silk, embroidery of calico tainted with sundry riveting motif. Holding her gaze with his, he repeated the prior sentence, maintaining the placements of the stressed and unstressed syllables, though clothed in new regalia.
"It's my turn to dare you, won yours."
That was it. A game of dare. Time tuning. Veracity. Earlier that week, she'd dared him to asking out Tessa on a date, which he did. Well, sometimes, you want to reel over your pride to win the heart of your lover. Suspending your pride for your lover's does not make you cheap, rather, limn you as being in fine feather: matter-of-factly stalwart in emotions. Teren did not realize these until he was dared, and truth speaking, the dare had eased him than burdened.
That could have been a payback, sure it was, but he refused to allow himself consider it from that frame of reference. Of what preponderancy would that be? Her mien had been permeated with worries. She had no idea of where he would be coming from. All she could pray and hope was that he shouldn't dare her to confronting Lambz, oh, she wouldn't know how to bring herself to doing it. Asking a guy out?
She admitted, yes, she was a freak of Jacquiz Lambz, the popular prosecutor, but not to that extent; asking him out, not even for a date. She allowed her nerves calm, wished all these dare shits were over, being her turn, but would that be? Not an answer yet, till Teren gave the low-down.
Reality seduced her as Rose, the blonde waiter, daintly shod in her V-neck shirt, tucked into a prudently pressed trouser, which definitely would have been ordered  from Luca d’Italia. She skipped Rose's shoe, that was not the time for fashion-commentary. She heaved a sigh, ordered coffee, low sugar, payed less attention to what Teren had ordered as she eloped into her thoughts, reincarnating the odd feelings.
    "So, there we go... "
That was Teren. Such brutality. He'd barged into her thoughts, a coup of words, impeaching the incumbent ones. No offense taken by her. Well, twas his turn to roll the dice, if twere to be her, she wouldn't have acted sane as well. Let him go by the plans, he would come through a gaunt path. Well, she wish!
"So, what would be the dare? "
She wasn't ought to say something. Not now. Not soon. But she couldn't help it, her tongue was lickety split than her heart. She regretted speaking. That portrayed her as though she was ready for the dare, but ironically, she wasn't, she couldn't ever be, but, such is in the bag. She dipped-six those thoughts. She had to. She thrust him the I'm-ready-for-the-worst kind of rubberneck.
"I dare you to ask Lambz' hand in marriage"
Sweet Jesus! Marriage? Not even a date, to be her boyfriend, walk to a movie or any other lean attributions. Oh God damn! Holy shit! Marriage? Fucking marriage. Not that she despise that supposition, concept, notion, give it any name. Of course who wouldn't want a man like Lambz for a husband? A man, muscular, towering, swift limb, broadened shoulders, enchanting pulchritude, business type, rich, with catchy smile inscribed in his soft physiognomy, lips like a beehive. Sometimes, she'd imagined herself traversing that beehive with her tongue, sucking the nectar, honey, loaning her dignity to pleasure. Yes! These all are desirable, but having them this way is devious. Her Inside was asphyxiated by the urge to say something, but as if he knew, he cut in:
"No 'no' to this, remember the rule?".
She was shackled. No opting out, no second choice. She was kept behind the bars of actions. Didn't know how to act that Out. She looked him over, grasped her car key, stood, turned, edged toward the door, and exit her thoughts with the coffee left untouched.
     He smiled.
